Next Production Announced!

The first play of the 2010/2011 season will be ‘Secondary Cause of Death’ by Peter Gordon. This is the second in the series of Inspector Pratt plays, the first of which we performed a few seasons ago.

This play has a cast of 3 male and 6 female adult characters and is a comedy murder-mystery set in a country house in 1949. The synopsis reads as follows: -

Inspector Pratt arrives at Bagshot House with grim news for Colonel Craddock but that’s just the beginning. Who is the strange Polish Count? Is Henrietta really an army Captain? And where does the thespian Longfellow fit into the scene? These are just some of the characters who make Pratt’s return a chaotic nightmare as the bodies pile higher and higher!

‘Secondary Cause of Death’ by Peter Gordon will be performed on Thursday 14th October, Friday 15th October, Saturday 16th October at St. Mary’s Hall.
Tickets are available via the website and the ticket hotline: 07760 306 605

Swansong at Tamworth Drama Festival: The Results!

Members attended the final night of the Tamworth Drama Festival for the summing up by the Adjudicator and prize giving.

We are delighted to announce that Nicola Jeacock-Gilbert was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Adjudicator for her performance as Margaret – congratulations Nicola!

We were also pleased to have been nominated for an award in the Best Adult Play category.

All in all, our first entry in this particular festival was an interesting if not rewarding experience, we had the chance to meet other groups and observe their work and the audiences’ response to it. But most importantly, we left entirely satisfied that we had given of our best in our performance with the inspiration and drive to return next year to this and hopefully other regional festivals.

Swan Song at Tamworth Drama Festival, 16th February 2010.

Members looked on with pride as the cast of Swan Song by Vanessa Brooks took to the stage at Tamworth Assembly Rooms for the Tamworth Drama Festival on 16th February 2010.

Fay, Martyn and Nicola gave an accomplished and moving performance of this poignant One-Act play, first performed by The Moat Players in October 2009, ably supported by the production crew and we were pleased to receive some favourable comments from the Adjudicator.

The prizes will be awarded at the end of the Festival on Saturday 20th March 2010 so we await the results with baited breath! In the meantime, congratulations to everyone involved and a huge thank you to those who came to support the cast and crew.
